Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "Muḥīṭan" (مُحِيطًا): Encompassing, surrounding, and comprehending everything—nothing escapes His knowledge, power, or control.
Tafsir (Explanation):
To Allah alone belongs everything that exists in the heavens and the earth—every star, every creature, every hidden secret, and every open deed. All of creation is His possession, His handiwork, and under His absolute authority. He creates what He wills, chooses what He wills, and disposes of all affairs as He pleases. Nothing in this vast universe operates outside His dominion.
And Allah is, and has always been, Encompassing over all things. His knowledge surrounds every atom, every thought, every intention, and every movement—whether in the highest heavens or the deepest depths of the earth. His power encompasses all things, so nothing is too great or too small for Him to manage. His wisdom and decree cover every event, past, present, and future. Nothing escapes His awareness, and no affair is beyond His control.
This verse instills in the believer a profound sense of awe and comfort. When you realize that your Lord encompasses everything, you understand that your worries, your struggles, and your prayers are never lost or overlooked. The One who holds the entire universe in His grasp is fully aware of your state, your needs, and your sincere efforts. So turn to Him with confidence, for He is the All-Encompassing, the All-Knowing, and the All-Powerful. Place your trust in Him, and know that He is sufficient for you in every matter—for indeed, to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth, and He encompasses everything with His perfect knowledge and might.
