Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Meanings:
- Zawwajnahum (وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ): We paired them or joined them together, meaning We gave them spouses.
- Hoor (حُورٍ): Beautiful, pure women of Paradise with intense whiteness of the eyes and extreme beauty.
- 'Een (عِين): Wide-eyed, with large, strikingly beautiful eyes, marked by intense black and white contrast.
Explanation of the Verse:
After describing the magnificent rewards for the righteous — their entry into gardens of delight, adorned in fine silk and brocade, seated on thrones facing one another in joy and contentment — Allah continues: "Thus it will be," and then adds another layer of honor: "And We paired them with Hoor 'Een."
This means that just as We honored these God-fearing believers with garments of silk and a life of bliss, We further blessed them by joining them in marriage to pure, beautiful companions of Paradise. These are women of extraordinary beauty, with wide, captivating eyes, flawless white complexions, and radiant charm that no eye has ever seen. The pairing is one of perfect harmony and love, free from any worldly burden or imperfection — a union of souls created for eternal happiness, where each spouse finds complete peace and delight in the other.
This is not merely a physical union but a profound spiritual blessing, reflecting Allah's boundless generosity. He does not only grant the believers a beautiful abode and fine clothing; He grants them companionship that fills their hearts with joy, removing any sense of loneliness or lack. It is a complete package of happiness, tailored to the pure desires of the human soul, elevated to a level of perfection that this world cannot offer.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, imagine a reward so complete that it addresses every aspect of your being — your comfort, your dignity, and your heart's deepest longing for love and connection. This is what awaits those who strive in the path of Allah with sincerity and patience. The Qur'an paints this picture not to merely entertain us, but to inspire us. If such is the reward, then how precious is the deed that leads to it? Let this verse awaken in you a longing for Paradise — not just for its gardens, but for the honor of being in the presence of the Most Merciful, surrounded by every form of joy. Let it motivate you to hold firm to your faith, to increase in good deeds, and to never lose hope in Allah's infinite grace. For He who promises such beauty to His servants is the Most Truthful of all speakers, and His promise is certain.
