Translation — Tafsir

- Yu'fakun (يُؤْفَكُونَ): They are turned away, diverted, or deluded from the truth.
Tafsir (Explanation):
In this verse, Allah Almighty clarifies the true nature of the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary (peace be upon him), and refutes the false claims of those who elevated him to divinity. Jesus is nothing more than a messenger of Allah, just like the many messengers who came before him and passed away. He was not an eternal being, nor was he divine—he was a human prophet sent with a message, and he lived and died like all other prophets. His mother, Maryam, was a woman of utmost truthfulness and sincerity—a Siddiqah who believed in Allah with complete certainty and devotion. She was not a goddess, nor was she divine in any way.
Then Allah points to a simple, undeniable proof of their humanity: "They both used to eat food." This is a profound and clear argument—any being who needs to eat and drink to sustain life is necessarily a created, dependent being. An eternal, self-sufficient God has no need for food or drink. This simple observation demolishes the claim of divinity for Jesus and his mother, because their physical needs prove their human nature.
Allah then calls upon His Prophet (peace be upon him) to reflect with wonder: "Look how We make clear to them the signs!" Allah presented countless evidences, miracles, and rational proofs demonstrating His Oneness and the falsehood of associating partners with Him. Yet, despite all this clarity, they still turn away. Then Allah says: "Then look—how are they deluded?" This second call to reflect highlights the astonishing reality that even after all these clear signs, people still stray from the truth and are turned away from it, as if they are blinded by their own desires and stubbornness.
Da'wah Reflection:
This verse invites every sincere seeker of truth to use their God-given intellect. The proof of Allah's Oneness is not hidden or complicated—it is woven into the very fabric of creation and human nature. When we look at the prophets, we see human beings chosen by Allah to guide humanity, not gods to be worshipped. The greatest honor for any creation is to be a servant of Allah, not a partner with Him. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was told to say: "I am only a man like you, to whom it has been revealed that your God is one God" (Al-Kahf: 110). This is the essence of Islam—pure monotheism, where all worship is directed to Allah alone, and all prophets are respected and loved as His noble messengers. Let us reflect on these clear signs and submit to the truth before it is too late, for Allah has left no excuse for anyone who sincerely seeks the truth.
