Surah An-Naba — Verse 11

Tafsir (Explanation):

After mentioning the darkness of the night and its role in providing rest and tranquility, Allah now draws our attention to the day and its vital purpose. He says: "And We made the day a means of livelihood." This means that Allah, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, designed the daylight hours as a time for you to move about, work, and strive in seeking your provision. The sun rises, illuminating the earth, so that you may travel, trade, farm, build, and engage in all the activities that sustain your life and the lives of those you care for.

The night was made for stillness and sleep, while the day was made for movement and effort. This beautiful balance is a sign of Allah’s perfect creation—a rhythm that allows human beings to fulfill both their physical needs and their spiritual purpose. The day is not merely a period of brightness; it is a divine gift, a "field" in which you are invited to labor and reap the rewards of Allah’s bounty.
