Word Meanings:

  • Yawm al-Fasl (يوم الفصل): The Day of Separation/Decision — the Day when Allah will judge and separate between all of creation, distinguishing the righteous from the wicked.
  • Mīqāt (ميقاتًا): An appointed time, a fixed and determined moment that cannot be changed, delayed, or brought forward.

Explanation of the Verse:

Allah Almighty declares that the Day of Decision — the Day of Resurrection — is an appointed time that has been firmly set and decreed. It is not a vague or uncertain event; rather, it is a precise moment in Allah’s eternal knowledge, fixed for the first and the last of humanity. This Day is the ultimate appointment when all creatures will be gathered before their Lord, and every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. It is the moment when the truth will be made manifest, and the separation between the people of faith and the people of disbelief will become absolute and final. This Day is the time appointed for reward and punishment — a promise that will undoubtedly come to pass, for Allah does not break His promise.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, ponder the certainty of this appointment. Just as you have a fixed time for your daily affairs — a meeting, a journey, a deadline — so too does your life have a final, unmissable appointment with your Creator. The Day of Decision is not a distant myth or a mere story; it is a reality that draws nearer with every passing breath. This verse invites you to live with awareness and purpose, knowing that your deeds — every word, every action, every intention — are being recorded and will be presented on that Day. Do not let this life’s distractions make you forget that appointment. Prepare for it with sincere repentance, good deeds, and a heart attached to Allah. For on that Day, the scales of justice will be set, and no soul will be wronged in the least. The One who appointed this time is the Most Just, the Most Wise — and His promise is true. So hasten to His mercy and forgiveness before that fixed moment arrives, when no excuse will avail, and only faith and righteous action will be of benefit.

📜 Verse 15-19 — An-Naba

15لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation
16وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافًا
And gardens of entwined growth.
17إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتًا
Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -
18يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes
19وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَابًا
And the heaven is opened and will become gateways
