Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- بِمُعْجِزِينَ — Those who can escape or frustrate (Allah's will); those who can outrun His power or render Him incapable of reaching them.
Explanation of the Verse:
Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) responded to his people's mockery and their demand to hasten the punishment they were warned about. He made it absolutely clear that bringing the punishment was not in his hands, nor was it a matter of his personal choice or timing. Rather, it is solely Allah's affair — He alone sends the punishment whenever He wills, whether sooner or later, in this world or in the Hereafter. Nuh was merely a messenger delivering the warning; the execution of justice belongs exclusively to the Almighty.
He then reinforced this truth with a profound declaration: "And you are not ones who will escape Him." This means that even if the punishment is delayed, it is not because you have outrun Allah's power or frustrated His plan. You cannot flee from His grasp, nor can you weaken Him in the heavens or on the earth. No matter where you go, no matter what you do, His knowledge encompasses you, His power surrounds you, and His justice will inevitably reach you. The delay is not a sign of weakness — it is a sign of His mercy and His perfect wisdom.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, ponder the greatness of this statement from the father of the second humanity, Nuh (peace be upon him). He stood firm against a people who challenged him, mocked him, and demanded immediate punishment. Yet he did not waver, nor did he compromise the truth. He directed them to the only One who holds all power and authority — Allah, the Lord of all worlds.
This verse carries a timeless lesson for every soul: the One who created you, who sustains you, and who knows your every secret — He is never incapable, and you are never beyond His reach. So why not turn to Him before the moment when escape becomes impossible? Why not submit to Him while the door of repentance is still open? The same Allah who sent the flood upon the people of Nuh when they persisted in disbelief is the One who opens the gates of mercy for those who return to Him with a sincere heart.
Do not be deceived by delay, for delay is not denial. And do not be fooled by your own strength, for your strength is but a gift from the One who can take it away in the blink of an eye. The wise one is he who responds to the call of truth before the call of punishment arrives — for when that day comes, no plea will be accepted, and no escape will be found.
