Explanation of the Verse:
When the husband (the Aziz of Egypt) saw that Yusuf's shirt was torn from the back, he immediately realized the truth: Yusuf was innocent, and the accusation against him was false. A tear from the front would have indicated that Yusuf had attacked the woman, but a tear from the back proved that she had pursued him and he was fleeing from her. At that moment, the scales of justice tipped, and the truth shone clearly.
The husband turned to his wife and said: "This accusation you have made against Yusuf is part of your cunning, O women. Indeed, your cunning is tremendous." He recognized that her lie was not an isolated mistake but part of a pattern of deception and manipulation that women can employ. This statement was not a condemnation of all women, but rather an acknowledgment of the powerful influence and cleverness that women possess, which can be used for good or for evil. In this case, it was used to trap an innocent soul.
This verse teaches us a profound lesson: truth, no matter how obscured, will eventually come to light. Allah, the All-Knowing, had a plan to protect Yusuf (peace be upon him) from this false accusation. The physical evidence—the torn shirt—was a sign of divine justice, a small miracle that unveiled the reality. It reminds us that when we are wronged, we should trust in Allah, for He is the Best of Planners and the One who exposes falsehood in ways we cannot imagine.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, reflect on how Allah defended His righteous servant. Yusuf did not defend himself with eloquent arguments or emotional pleas; rather, Allah Himself defended him through the simplest of signs—a torn shirt. This is a reminder that when you are sincere and patient, Allah will be your Protector and will bring forth your innocence in ways that astonish the hearts. Let this story strengthen your faith and your reliance on Allah, for His justice is perfect and His wisdom is beyond comprehension. And let it also serve as a warning: beware of deception and false accusations, for they are among the greatest of sins, and their consequences are severe in this life and the Hereafter.
