Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- "Did you not see" (أَلَمْ تَرَ): This is a rhetorical question meant to draw attention and provoke thought, not a literal inquiry about eyesight. It means "Have you not come to know and realize?"
- "With truth" (بِالْحَقِّ): Meaning with perfect wisdom, justice, and purpose — not in vain or as a mere plaything.
- "If He wills" (إِن يَشَأْ): A conditional phrase emphasizing that Allah's will is absolute and unrestricted.
- "Take you away" (يُذْهِبْكُمْ): To remove you, cause you to perish, or replace you.
- "A new creation" (خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍ): Another people or beings who would obey Him sincerely.
The Interpretation:
Have you not realized, O human being — and this address extends to all of humanity — that Allah created the heavens and the earth with perfect truth and profound wisdom? He did not create them aimlessly or for mere amusement. Rather, He brought them into existence to demonstrate His absolute power, His perfect wisdom, and His unique oneness, so that you may reflect upon His greatness and worship Him alone, without associating any partner with Him.
The universe around you — the vast skies with their celestial bodies, the earth with its mountains, seas, and living creatures — all of it is a living testimony to the majesty of its Creator. Every atom in existence proclaims His glory and points to His wisdom. This is not a creation of chance or play; it is a creation built upon truth, purpose, and divine justice.
And if Allah wills — and His will is never challenged nor can anyone oppose it — He can completely remove you from the face of the earth and bring forth a new creation in your place. A creation that would worship Him, obey His commands, and submit to His will wholeheartedly. This is not difficult for Him in the least; it is as easy for Him as your own creation was in the beginning.
This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul: your existence is not guaranteed by your own power, nor is your continuation on this earth a right you possess. You are here by the mercy and will of Allah, and He can replace you at any moment with those who are better, more obedient, and more grateful. So do not let pride fill your heart, and do not become arrogant in your disobedience — for the One who created you can just as easily remove you and bring others who will cherish the blessing of life and use it in His obedience.
Let this reality awaken your heart, dear reader: the Creator who made these magnificent heavens and this vast earth is fully capable of recreating you anew. If you turn away from Him, He is not in need of you — but you are in desperate need of His mercy. So hasten to His obedience, and be among those whom He would never wish to replace.
