Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • بِالْحَقِّ (with the truth): with certainty and the absolute reality that cannot be doubted or altered.
  • لَصَادِقُونَ (truly truthful): indeed we are completely honest in what we convey to you.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, the angels who were sent by Allah to Prophet Lut (peace be upon him) reassure him after he expressed fear and distress upon seeing them as handsome strangers in his town, fearing for their safety from his wicked people. They said to him: "Do not fear, for we have not come to you with anything but the truth — the certain truth from Allah, the Almighty — and we are indeed truthful in everything we tell you." They were informing him of the inevitable punishment that would befall his people, the very punishment they had long denied and mocked. This was a message of absolute certainty, leaving no room for doubt, and a confirmation that their words were not mere threats but a reality that would surely come to pass.

This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer: the truth of Allah's promise is absolute, and His messengers — whether angels or humans — never speak except with truth. When Allah decrees a matter, it happens without fail, and His justice prevails over all.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear believer, let this verse strengthen your heart and deepen your trust in Allah's promises. Just as the angels reassured Prophet Lut with the truth, Allah reassures you in His Book that His help is near, His promise is true, and His justice will prevail — whether in this life or the Hereafter. The wicked may seem strong for a time, but the end belongs to the righteous. Hold firm to your faith, for the truth of Allah is the ultimate reality, and those who rely on Him are never disappointed. Let this certainty fill your heart with peace, and let it inspire you to live a life of honesty, patience, and unwavering trust in your Lord — for indeed, Allah never breaks His promise, and His word is the highest truth of all.

He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."
They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing,
And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.
So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded."
And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning.
