Word Meanings:

(As-Sayhah): The overwhelming, deafening shout or blast—specifically, the punishing cry of the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) that destroyed the people of Lut.
(Mushriqeen): Those who enter the time of sunrise; i.e., they were overtaken by the punishment at the moment the sun began to rise.

Explanation of the Verse:

After the people of Lut persisted in their defiance, heedlessness, and wickedness—ignoring every warning and even challenging their prophet—Allah’s decree of punishment descended upon them. The verse tells us that the mighty blast seized them at sunrise. This was the cry of the Angel Jibreel, which struck them with such force that it destroyed them entirely. The punishment began at dawn and reached its completion as the sun rose, leaving no trace of their wrongdoing. This timing was not arbitrary; it was a deliberate sign—the very light of a new day became the witness to their utter ruin, showing that no power, wealth, or arrogance could shield them from the justice of their Creator.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this scene: a whole community, once thriving in luxury and sin, was wiped out in a single moment at the break of dawn. The sun that rose that day did not bring them hope—it brought them the consequence of their choices. This is a timeless lesson for every soul: Allah’s mercy is vast, but His justice is certain. He gives us time, but He does not forget. The people of Lut had every chance to turn back, yet they mocked the truth until it was too late.

Let this verse awaken your heart. Do not wait for the sunrise of regret when the opportunity has passed. Turn to Allah now, in sincerity, for He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful. He loves those who repent and return to Him. The same Lord who destroyed the wicked with a single cry is the Lord who opens His doors to the penitent with infinite compassion. Choose the path of guidance today, and you will find a peace that no worldly pleasure can ever match. And know that the Qur’an is not merely a book of stories—it is a living reminder, urging you to be among those who hear and respond before the sun rises on a day that will never end.

📜 Verse 71-75 — Al-Hijr

[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."
By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.
So the shriek seized them at sunrise.
And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.
Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.
