Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Ḥasanah (حَسَنَةً): A good thing, blessing, or excellence—encompassing both material and spiritual favors.
- Al-Ṣāliḥīn (الصَّالِحِينَ): The righteous ones—those who are upright in faith and deed, deserving of Allah’s highest rewards.
Explanation of the Verse:
After mentioning Prophet Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) exceptional qualities—his role as a leader in goodness, his complete submission to Allah, his unwavering monotheism, and his gratitude for Allah’s blessings—Allah now concludes this noble description with a promise of reward in both worlds.
In this worldly life, Allah granted Ibrahim (peace be upon him) a “good thing” (ḥasanah), which includes: prophethood, a legacy of beautiful praise that continues across generations, righteous offspring (including Prophets Isma’il and Ishaq, peace be upon them), and the honor of being a model for all believers. His name is revered by people of all faiths, and his example is followed by Muslims to this day—a blessing that no worldly wealth could ever match.
In the Hereafter, Allah confirms that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) will be among the righteous—those who will dwell in the highest ranks of Paradise, enjoying eternal bliss in the company of the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. His station in the afterlife is secured, for he was a man who devoted his entire being to his Lord.
A Da’wah Reflection:
This verse teaches us that true success is not measured by temporary worldly gains alone, but by the lasting legacy of faith and righteousness. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) achieved the perfect balance: he was blessed in this world with honor and good offspring, and in the Hereafter with the highest stations of Paradise. This is the promise of Allah to those who submit to Him sincerely—He does not let their good deeds go to waste. Let this inspire you, dear reader, to strive for excellence in your faith, to be grateful for every blessing, and to seek a legacy of goodness that will benefit you in both worlds. For Allah’s mercy is vast, and His rewards are beyond imagination for those who remain steadfast upon His path.
