Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- بِالْحَقِّ (bil-ḥaqq): With the truth — meaning with what is certain, established, and undeniable; the true religion and clear proof.
- لَكَاذِبُونَ (la-kādhibūn): Indeed they are liars — referring to their false claims and fabrications about Allah.
Explanation of the Verse:
The verse begins with the Arabic word *bal*, which means "nay" or "on the contrary" — a decisive refutation that sweeps away the false notions of the disbelievers. It is as if Allah is saying: "The matter is not as they claim, not at all."
Allah then declares: "We have brought them the truth." This refers to the message of Islam, the Qur'an, and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is the truth that cannot be doubted — a truth that aligns with sound human nature, with reason, and with the signs of creation all around us. It is not a truth that is hidden or obscure; it is manifest, clear, and supported by overwhelming evidence.
Then comes the second part: "And indeed they are liars." This is a direct and powerful response to their falsehoods — their claims that Allah has a partner or a son, their denial of the resurrection and the Day of Judgment, and their rejection of the messengers. These are not mere differences of opinion; they are outright lies against Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth.
The verse carries a profound lesson for every seeker of truth: when falsehood is confronted with truth, falsehood has no ground to stand on. The truth of Allah's message is like pure light — it exposes every shadow of falsehood. Those who reject it do so not because the truth is weak, but because their hearts have been sealed by arrogance and stubbornness.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, reflect on this verse with an open heart. Allah has not left us in darkness — He has sent us the truth through His final revelation, the Qur'an, and His final messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him). This truth is your path to success in this life and the next. It is a mercy, a guidance, and a light.
Do not be like those who heard the truth and still turned away, claiming falsehood about their Creator. Rather, be among those who recognize the truth, embrace it with sincerity, and live by it. For the truth is not heavy on the ears of the honest — it is sweet to the hearts of the faithful.
Let this verse be a reminder that Allah's promise is true, His message is clear, and His justice is certain. The Day will come when every soul will see the reality of what it did. So hasten to the truth before that Day arrives, and let your heart find peace in submission to the One who created you and knows what is best for you.
