Surah Ash-Shu'ara — Verse 134

Explanation of the Verse:

In this verse, Allah reminds humanity of yet another layer of His boundless generosity. After mentioning the cattle, the children, and the gardens in the preceding verses, He adds: "And gardens and springs." These are not merely any gardens—they are verdant, thriving orchards laden with fruit, and springs of fresh, flowing water that quench the earth and sustain life.

This is a direct address to the people of ʿĀd, through the Prophet Hūd (peace be upon him), who were blessed with extraordinary wealth and natural resources. Allah is calling them to reflect: How could they deny the One who gave them all this? The gardens and springs are not just physical blessings—they are signs of Allah’s mercy, His power to create life from dry earth, and His constant care for His creation.

The verse serves as a gentle yet profound reminder that every sip of water and every bite of fruit is a gift from Allah. When we recognize these blessings, our hearts naturally incline toward gratitude, and gratitude draws us closer to our Creator. It also carries a subtle warning: if we use these blessings to rebel against Allah, we risk losing them. But if we use them to worship Him and serve others, they become a means of eternal success.

So, look around you today—at the water you drink, the food you eat, the beauty you see—and let it all remind you of the One who gave it all.
