Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Tanāsarūn (تَنَاصَرُونَ): To support and help one another; mutual assistance and protection among allies or companions.

Explanation of the Verse:

On the Day of Judgment, after the disbelievers and wrongdoers are gathered, they will be addressed with a rebuke and reproach: "What is the matter with you that you do not support one another now?" This is a humiliating question posed to them as they stand helpless and abandoned. In the worldly life, they used to rely on each other for strength, protection, and mutual aid. They boasted of their alliances, their tribes, their wealth, and their false deities, claiming that these would surely come to their rescue when needed. They placed their trust in their idols, their leaders, and their own numbers, believing that such support would never fail them. But on that Day, all of that proves utterly futile. No one comes to their aid—neither their former allies, nor their idols, nor their kin. Every soul stands alone, stripped of all false supports, facing the absolute justice of Allah. The rhetorical question exposes their utter helplessness and shatters the illusions they once held dear.

Reflection and Da‘wah:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every human being. It reminds us that all worldly alliances, no matter how strong they seem, are temporary and fragile. The only true and everlasting support is that which comes from Allah—the Creator, the Sustainer, and the Most Merciful. How often do we see people placing their trust in wealth, status, family, or friends, only to find themselves alone in times of real crisis? The Hereafter is the ultimate reality where every false support will vanish, and only faith and righteous deeds will stand by us. This is an invitation to turn back to Allah now, before that Day arrives, and to build our lives on the solid foundation of His guidance. Seek His help in all matters, for He is the Best of Protectors and the Most Generous of Supporters. Let this verse inspire you to be among those who help one another in righteousness and piety, and who place their complete trust in Allah alone—for He never abandons those who sincerely turn to Him.

📜 Verse 23-27 — As-Saffat

Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire
And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."
[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"
But they, that Day, are in surrender.
And they will approach one another blaming each other.
