Tafsir (Explanation):
O believers, do not let your hearts yearn for the worldly advantages and blessings that Allah has granted to others among you. Whether it be wealth, status, strength, or any other favor, know that Allah—in His infinite wisdom—has distributed these gifts according to what suits each person’s circumstances and what serves the greater good. Coveting what others possess breeds envy, resentment, and ingratitude, which poison the soul and distance one from contentment.
Indeed, Allah has decreed a fair and just share for every individual. Men will be rewarded according to what they earn and strive for, and women will likewise receive their due recompense for their deeds and efforts. No one is deprived of their rightful portion, and no one is held accountable for another’s actions. Each soul reaps what it sows, and Allah’s justice is perfect and impartial.
Rather than wasting your energy in wishing for what others have, turn your hearts toward Allah and ask Him sincerely to grant you from His abundant grace and favor. Supplication is the key to unlocking blessings that mere wishing can never attain. When you ask Allah, you acknowledge His sovereignty and His power to give, and you open the door to His mercy.
And remember: Allah is All-Knowing of everything. He knows precisely what is best for each of His servants, what they need, and what will benefit them in this life and the Hereafter. His distribution is never random or unjust—it is rooted in perfect knowledge and wisdom. So trust in His decree, be content with what He has given you, and turn your hopes toward Him in prayer. For in His hands are the treasures of all things, and He grants His bounty to whom He wills, out of His infinite generosity and love.
