Word Meanings:

(Al-Ghayb): The unseen, the hidden knowledge of all matters that are beyond human perception — including what has happened, what is happening, and what will happen in the future.
(Yaktubūn): They write down — meaning they record and dictate to people what they claim to know of the unseen.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse poses a rhetorical question to those who reject the truth and stubbornly oppose the message of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It challenges their false claims and exposes their ignorance: Do they possess knowledge of the unseen? Do they have access to the hidden realities of the universe, such that they can write down for people what will happen and inform them of future events?

The answer is an emphatic "No" — they have no such knowledge whatsoever. The knowledge of the unseen, in the heavens and the earth, belongs exclusively to Allah alone. He is the Only One who knows what is hidden and what is manifest, what was and what will be. No human being, no angel, no prophet — except what Allah chooses to reveal to them — has any independent access to the unseen. The Qur'an states clearly: "And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him" (Al-An'am 6:59).

This verse is a powerful reminder that those who oppose the truth are merely guessing and speculating. They have no solid ground to stand on, no divine revelation to support their claims, and no knowledge of what lies beyond their limited perception. Their arrogance and denial are built on nothing but ignorance and stubbornness.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, ponder deeply on this verse and let it awaken your heart. The universe around you is filled with signs of Allah's infinite wisdom and power. The One who created the heavens and the earth, who knows the secrets of every heart and the mysteries of every realm — He is the One who has sent down this Qur'an as a guidance for humanity. How can anyone turn away from such a clear truth? How can anyone claim knowledge they do not possess, while the Creator of all things speaks to us through His final revelation?

This verse invites you to recognise your own limits and to submit to the One who knows all. It is a call to humility — to admit that we do not know the unseen, and therefore, we must rely on the One who does. The Qur'an is not a book of guesses or speculation; it is the word of Allah, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Embrace it with an open heart, and you will find peace, guidance, and success in this life and the Hereafter. For Allah has promised: "Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable" (Al-Isra 17:9).

📜 Verse 39-43 — At-Tur

Or has He daughters while you have sons?
Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?
Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?
Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan.
Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
