Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- مَذْءُومًا (Madh'uman): Disgraced, blamed, or censured; one who carries the mark of shame and reproach.
- مَدْحُورًا (Madhuran): Driven away, expelled, and banished from all goodness and mercy.
- لَأَمْلَأَنَّ (La-amla'anna): I will certainly fill — an emphatic divine oath affirming the certainty of this promise.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this powerful verse, Allah — the Most High — addresses Iblis (Satan) after his refusal to prostrate to Adam and his arrogant rebellion. The command comes with absolute authority: "Get out of it (Paradise), disgraced and expelled!" This is not merely a physical removal but a spiritual and existential banishment — Iblis is stripped of honor, marked with shame, and cast far away from the mercy and grace of Allah. The word *madhmuman* (disgraced) indicates that he carries a blameworthy character, while *madhmuran* (expelled) shows he is pushed away from every door of goodness, with no hope of return.
Then comes the solemn declaration: "If any of them follows you — indeed, I will fill Hell with you all together." This is a divine oath, emphasizing certainty. The conditional "whoever follows you" includes both Iblis himself and every being — from among the jinn and humankind — who chooses to obey him, follow his whispers, and turn away from the command of their Lord. The promise is comprehensive: Hell will be filled with Iblis and his followers, a fitting end for those who trade the eternal bliss of Paradise for the fleeting illusions of disobedience.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and ponder the weight of this verse. Here is the stark reality: the path of Satan leads only to disgrace and the fire of Hell. Yet Allah, in His infinite mercy, has not left us without guidance. He has sent messengers, revealed books, and given us the gift of free will — so that we may choose the path of light over darkness, obedience over rebellion.
This verse is a warning, but it is also an invitation. It reminds us that our choices in this life carry eternal consequences. Every time we resist a temptation, every time we turn away from a sin, every time we humble ourselves before Allah, we are distancing ourselves from the fate of Iblis and his followers. And every time we repent sincerely, Allah's mercy is vast enough to forgive us completely — for He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
Let this verse inspire you to be among those who follow the guidance of Allah, not the footsteps of Satan. Strive to be a servant who seeks honor through obedience, not disgrace through arrogance. Remember that Paradise is real, and Hell is real — and the choice is yours, made with every action and intention. May Allah protect us all from the whispers of the accursed one and grant us steadfastness on the straight path.
