Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Jinnah (جِنَّة): Madness or insanity.
- Sahibihim (صَاحِبِهِم): Their companion — referring to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
- Nadheerun Mubeen (نَذِيرٌ مُبِين): A clear, evident warner who plainly warns against God’s punishment.
Explanation of the Verse:
Have these people who reject the signs of God and deny His Messenger not reflected deeply in their minds and hearts? Have they not pondered over the life and character of their companion, Muhammad (peace be upon him), whom they have known for decades as the truthful and trustworthy one? If they had truly engaged their intellects, they would have realized with certainty that he is not afflicted with madness, as they falsely claim. There is not a trace of insanity in him. Rather, he is nothing but a warner sent by God — a warner whose message is crystal clear, whose call is sincere, and whose warnings about the consequences of disbelief are evident and undeniable. He does not speak from his own desire; he only conveys what has been revealed to him, urging people to turn back to their Lord before the inevitable punishment arrives.
A Da'wah Reflection:
How often do we, as human beings, rush to judge what we do not understand? The disbelievers of Makkah looked at the Prophet (peace be upon him) and, unable to accept the truth he brought, resorted to false accusations. Yet the Qur'an invites them — and us — to reflect, to think, and to use the very intellect that God has blessed us with. This verse is a timeless call: pause, ponder, and seek the truth with an open heart. When you look at the message of Islam, you will find it to be pure, logical, and deeply merciful. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was not a madman; he was a mercy to all of humanity. And this Qur'an is not the word of a poet or a soothsayer; it is the guidance of the Creator. So let us be among those who reflect, who see the light, and who respond to the call of the clear warner — before it is too late. The door of repentance is open, and the mercy of God is vast. Do not let pride or stubbornness deprive you of the greatest success: the pleasure of your Lord and the eternal bliss of Paradise.
