Word Meanings:
- Kādih (كَادِحٌ): One who strives, labors, and toils with great effort and exertion.
- Kadḥan (كَدْحًا): The act of striving and working hard, exhausting oneself in effort.
- Famulāqīh (فَمُلَاقِيهِ): And you shall meet it — meaning you will encounter the outcome and recompense of your deeds.
Tafsir (Explanation):
O human being! You are constantly striving and toiling in this life, moving forward with every breath toward your Lord. Whether you realize it or not, every step you take, every action you perform, and every effort you exert is a journey toward your ultimate meeting with Allah. Your life is not a random series of events; it is a purposeful path leading you to your Creator.
You work hard in this world — seeking provision, building families, pursuing goals, and facing challenges. But know that all this striving is not in vain. You are heading toward your Lord, and the destination is certain. The journey ends with death, and then you will meet your Lord on the Day of Resurrection. There, you will encounter the full result of your efforts — every good deed and every bad deed will be presented before you.
This meeting is inevitable. You will either meet your Lord with a record of righteousness, earning His pleasure and mercy, or with a record of sin, facing His justice. The verse does not specify which outcome, leaving it open to your choices in this life. It is a profound reminder that your daily struggles are not disconnected from your spiritual destiny — they are the very fabric of it.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, pause and reflect: What are you striving for today? Where is your effort leading you? This verse awakens the heart to a beautiful truth — that your life has meaning and direction. You are not wandering aimlessly; you are on a journey to the Most Merciful. Every sincere step you take toward goodness, every honest effort you make to please Allah, is recorded and will be rewarded. Even your daily work, when done with intention and integrity, becomes an act of worship that draws you closer to your Lord.
So strive with hope, not fear. Work for your worldly life as if you will live forever, but work for your hereafter as if you will die tomorrow. The meeting with Allah is not something to dread for the believer — it is the ultimate reunion with the One who loves you, who created you, and who has prepared unimaginable rewards for those who strive in His path. Let this verse inspire you to make every effort count, to purify your intentions, and to race toward what pleases your Lord. For indeed, you will meet Him — and what a meeting it will be for those who strive with faith!
