Explanation of the Verse:
In this magnificent verse, Allah paints a vivid picture of the life of the believers in Paradise — a life where even their speech is pure worship and their words are fragrant with remembrance of their Lord.
When the people of Paradise enter their eternal home, their invocation and prayer is the glorification of Allah: "Subhanaka Allahumma" — "Glory be to You, O Allah." This is not a prayer of need or request, for in Paradise there is no want or lack. Rather, it is a prayer of pure adoration, acknowledging Allah's absolute perfection and His transcendence above every flaw, defect, or shortcoming. It is the natural outpouring of hearts that have been purified and filled with the light of divine knowledge.
Their greeting in Paradise is "Salam" — peace. This is the greeting they receive from Allah Himself, from the angels who welcome them, and from one another. It is a greeting that carries the meaning of complete safety and security: safety from all fear, all grief, all harm, and all that is unpleasant. In that blessed abode, peace is not just a word but a living reality that envelops every soul.
And the final words of their supplication — the seal of their speech — is "Al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-'Alamin" — "All praise and thanks are due to Allah, Lord of all the worlds." They begin with glorification (tasbih) and conclude with praise and gratitude (tahmid). This reflects the perfect state of the believer: a life that begins with recognizing Allah's greatness and ends with thanking Him for His boundless favors.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, contemplate this beautiful scene! The people of Paradise do not tire of remembering Allah — even in eternal bliss, their tongues are moist with His praise. Their words are not idle chatter or meaningless talk; rather, every utterance is worship that draws them closer to their Lord.
This is the ultimate reward for those who, in this worldly life, kept their tongues busy with the remembrance of Allah, who began their day with His praise and ended it with His gratitude. If you desire this eternal joy, then let your tongue be accustomed now to these blessed words: "Subhanaka Allahumma" and "Al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-'Alamin." Let them be your constant companions in this life, so that they may become your natural speech in the life to come.
Paradise is not merely a place of physical delights — it is the ultimate joy of being in the presence of Allah, where even the very act of speaking becomes an act of divine communion. And this glorious end is within your reach, if you but turn to Allah with a sincere heart, follow His guidance, and strive to live a life pleasing to Him. May Allah make us among those whose final words in this world and their first words in the next are: "Al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil-'Alamin."
