Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yabda' al-khalq: To originate creation from nothing, without any prior model or example.
- Yu'iduhu: To bring it back after its destruction or death, i.e., resurrection.
- Tu'fakun: To be turned away or diverted from the truth to falsehood.
Tafsir (Explanation):
O Prophet, say to those who associate partners with Allah: "Is there among the gods you worship and call upon besides Allah—those idols, stones, or beings you have taken as intercessors—anyone who can originate creation from nothing, then cause it to perish, and then bring it back to life again?" The answer is self-evident: none of them can claim such power, for they themselves are created, weak, and incapable.
Then Allah instructs you, O Prophet, to declare the truth clearly: "It is Allah alone who originates creation from nothing, and it is He who will bring it back after death." He is the Sole Creator, the One who gives life and causes death, and He will resurrect all of humanity on the Day of Judgment for reckoning.
So how is it that you are turned away from this undeniable truth to worship falsehood? How can you abandon the worship of the One who has complete power over creation and resurrection, and instead bow down to beings that cannot even benefit or harm themselves, let alone create or resurrect? This is the ultimate misguidance and folly.
Da'wah Reflection:
This verse invites every human being to reflect on the greatest proof of Allah's existence and power: the miracle of creation and resurrection. Look at the universe around you—the heavens, the earth, the mountains, the oceans, and your very own self. Who brought all of this into being from nothing? Who sustains it every moment? And who will bring it all back to life after death?
The answer is clear: it is Allah—the One, the Almighty, the All-Wise. This truth is engraved in your very nature (fitrah), and your intellect confirms it. So why turn away from it? Why chase after illusions and false gods that have no power at all?
Come back to your Lord, the Creator who loves you, who provides for you, and who has prepared Paradise for those who believe and do good. He is the One who will resurrect you and reward you with eternal bliss if you worship Him alone. Do not let the fleeting pleasures of this world deceive you, for the Hereafter is far better and everlasting. Embrace the truth today, and you will find peace in this life and success in the next.
