Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yaftaroona (يَفْتَرُونَ): They invent lies and fabricate falsehoods.
- Al-Kadhib (الْكَذِبَ): The lie — here specifically referring to attributing to Allah what is not true, such as claiming He has a child or a partner.
- La Yuflihoon (لَا يُفْلِحُونَ): They will not succeed, prosper, or attain their goals; they will not be saved from what they fear.
Tafsir (Explanation):
O Messenger, say clearly to those who invent lies against Allah — whether by claiming that He has a son, or by associating partners with Him in worship — that they will never achieve true success. Their schemes and false claims will not bring them what they desire in this world, nor will they be saved from the punishment they dread in the Hereafter. Success, in its true sense, belongs only to those who are truthful in their faith and sincere in their deeds. As for those who fabricate lies about their Lord, their efforts are built upon falsehood, and falsehood is destined to vanish. Allah’s promise is certain: the liars against Him shall not prosper, neither in the fleeting life of this world — where their disgrace may be delayed but not prevented — nor in the eternal life to come, where they will face the consequences of their inventions.
A Call to Reflection:
This verse carries a profound and comforting message for every believer. It reassures us that truth always prevails, and that those who spread lies about Allah — whether through distorted beliefs, false doctrines, or corrupt practices — are ultimately doomed to failure. No matter how powerful, wealthy, or influential they may appear, their end is loss. For the believer, this is an invitation to hold firmly to the pure truth of Islam: that Allah is One, without partner or child, and that success lies only in sincere submission to Him. Let this verse strengthen your heart, dear reader, and fill you with confidence in the justice of Allah. Cling to the truth, for it is the path to true prosperity — in this life and the next. And beware of ever attributing to Allah what He has not revealed, for the noblest of deeds is to speak truthfully about your Lord, and the worst of sins is to invent lies against Him.
