Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

We will surely gather and assemble them (resurrect them from their graves).
Along with the devils who misled them and were their companions in this worldly life.
We will certainly bring them all forth.
Kneeling down on their knees, in a state of utter humility, fear, and submissiveness, like a captive awaiting judgment.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this powerful verse, Allah Almighty takes a solemn oath by His own noble Self, addressing His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) directly, to affirm the absolute certainty of the Day of Resurrection and the gathering of all mankind. Allah swears: "By your Lord, We will surely gather them"—meaning those who denied the resurrection, rejected the truth, and mocked the promise of the Hereafter. This oath is a divine guarantee that leaves no room for doubt: the day of accountability is inevitable.

Not only will these disbelievers be resurrected, but they will be gathered together with their devils—the evil companions from among the jinn who beautified sin for them, whispered corruption into their hearts, and led them astray from the straight path. Every disbeliever will be chained with his devil, just as they were inseparable partners in wrongdoing during their worldly lives. This pairing emphasizes that their punishment begins with the very source of their misguidance, and they will share the same miserable fate.

Then, Allah declares that He will bring them all around Hellfire, kneeling on their knees. This is not yet their entry into the Fire, but rather their being brought to its very brink, forced to witness its terrifying reality before being cast into it. The description of them kneeling—on their knees like captives awaiting execution—paints a vivid picture of utter humiliation, helplessness, and dread. They who once walked proudly on earth, arrogantly denying the truth and mocking the believers, will now be brought low, unable to stand, their knees trembling before the majesty of their Lord.

This scene serves as a profound warning to every soul: no one can escape the justice of Allah, and every act of arrogance and denial will be met with a humiliating reckoning. The oath by the Lord Himself underscores the absolute certainty of this promise—it is not a possibility, but a guaranteed reality.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. The One who created you from nothing, who sustains you with His mercy every single moment, has promised that this life is not the end. There is a day when every knee will bow, every soul will be held accountable, and every secret will be exposed. The disbelievers will be gathered with their devils—those who deceived them—and brought to the edge of Hellfire in utter disgrace.

But the beauty of Islam is that Allah, in His infinite mercy, has opened the door of repentance before that day arrives. Today, you have the chance to free yourself from the chains of Shaytan, to turn back to your Lord in sincerity, and to be among those who will be gathered with the righteous, not with the devils. Do not wait until you are kneeling around Hellfire to realize the truth. Embrace the guidance of the Qur'an, follow the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and let your life be a preparation for a meeting with your Lord that will be filled with honor, not humiliation.

The choice is yours—and the time is now.

📜 Verse 66-70 — Maryam

And the disbeliever says, "When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive?"
Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing?
So by your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils; then We will bring them to be present around Hell upon their knees.
Then We will surely extract from every sect those of them who were worst against the Most Merciful in insolence.
Then, surely it is We who are most knowing of those most worthy of burning therein.
