Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Al-Qasas (القصص): The narration, story, or account of events.
- Al-Haqq (الحق): The truth, absolute reality, free from any falsehood or doubt.
- Al-Aziz (العزيز): The Almighty, the All-Powerful, the One who prevails over all things and is invincible in His might.
- Al-Hakeem (الحكيم): The All-Wise, the One who places everything in its perfect place and whose actions and commands are full of profound wisdom.
The Interpretation:
This verse comes as a decisive and definitive conclusion to the story of Jesus (peace be upon him), which had been a subject of dispute among the People of the Book. Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) declares that this account — that Jesus was a noble servant and messenger of Allah, created by His command without a father, and that he was not killed nor crucified but was raised up to Allah — is the absolute truth, free from any doubt, distortion, or falsehood. It is the authentic reality that leaves no room for speculation or argument.
Then the verse establishes the fundamental pillar of faith: there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone. He is the only One who deserves our devotion, submission, and love. All other so-called gods — whether idols, humans, or celestial beings — are false and can never benefit or harm anyone.
Finally, the verse affirms two of Allah's magnificent attributes: He is Al-Aziz — the Almighty whose power is unmatched, who dominates everything in His dominion, and whom no one can overcome or resist. And He is Al-Hakeem — the All-Wise in His creation, His commands, and His legislation. Everything He does has a purpose, and every ruling He decrees is filled with wisdom, even if our limited minds cannot always grasp it.
A Da'wah Reflection for the Reader:
Dear reader, ponder deeply upon this verse. Allah is telling you that the truth is clear and within your reach — it is not hidden or complicated. The story of Jesus is not a mystery to be debated endlessly, but a truth to be accepted with a sincere heart. And at the heart of this truth lies the most important call of all: worship Allah alone, the Almighty, the All-Wise.
When you recognize that Allah is Al-Aziz, you find strength and security — for the One you rely upon cannot be defeated. When you know that He is Al-Hakeem, you find peace and contentment — for even when life's events seem confusing, you trust that the All-Wise is orchestrating everything for your good. This is the beauty of Islam: it calls you not to blind faith, but to a faith grounded in truth, power, and wisdom. Open your heart to this truth today, and you will find a peace that nothing in this world can ever take away.
