Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(And see/watch): Look with insight and observation, meaning to wait and anticipate.
(Then they will soon see): They will come to witness with their own eyes.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse carries a profound message of divine reassurance and a stern warning to those who reject the truth. Allah addresses His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with a command to observe and wait — to look upon the disbelievers with patient certainty, for the time is near when they themselves will see the consequences of their denial.

The meaning is: Turn away from their mockery and their persistent rejection, and keep your gaze fixed on what is to come. For soon enough, they will witness with their own eyes the punishment and divine retribution that awaits them — whether in this world through defeat, humiliation, and calamity, or in the Hereafter with the ultimate chastisement that none can escape.

This is both a comfort to the believer and a terrifying promise to the disbeliever. The Prophet is told not to be distressed by their words or actions, because the wheel of divine justice is turning, and the outcome is already sealed. The disbelievers think they are secure, but they are merely in a temporary state of heedlessness. The moment will come when the veil is lifted, and they will see the reality they once mocked.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, ponder the beauty of this divine address. Allah does not tell His Prophet to argue endlessly or to despair over the stubbornness of the rejecters. Instead, He instructs him to simply *see* — because seeing the unfolding of Allah's promise is itself a form of worship and certainty.

For us today, this verse is a living lesson: when you face mockery, rejection, or hostility for your faith, do not let your heart sink. Allah sees all, and His justice is never delayed without wisdom. The same eyes that once looked at the Prophet with arrogance will one day look upon the reality of their own end.

So hold firm to your trust in Allah. Let your heart be at peace, knowing that every promise in the Qur'an is true. And if you are patient, you too will see — with your own eyes — how Allah grants victory to His believing servants and brings low those who oppose His message. This is the way of Allah that never changes, and it is a source of hope and strength for every believer until the end of time.

But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.
And leave them for a time.
And see, for they are going to see.
Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.
And peace upon the messengers.
