Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Nubaddila (نُبَدِّلَ): To replace or transform something, changing its form or nature.
  • Amthālakum (أَمْثَالَكُمْ): Your likenesses or forms—referring to the way you are created and shaped.
  • Nunshi’akum (نُنشِئَكُمْ): To bring you into being, to create you anew.
  • Fī mā lā ta‘lamūn (فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ): In what you do not know—meaning forms, states, or conditions beyond your current knowledge and experience.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse comes as a continuation of Allah’s declaration that He has decreed death for all of humanity, and that He is not incapable of replacing them with others. Here, Allah emphasizes His absolute power over creation by stating that He can transform your very likenesses and recreate you in forms entirely unknown to you.

On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will not simply bring you back in the same shape you had in this worldly life; rather, He will change your physical and spiritual makeup in ways that surpass human imagination. Just as He created you from nothing the first time, He is fully able to recreate you in a completely different manner—whether that means raising you from dust, transforming your bodies, or giving you new forms suited for the eternal life to come.

The verse also carries a profound lesson: your current existence, with all its familiar features, is not the only possible form of life. Allah, the Creator of all things, holds limitless power to fashion creation in countless ways. What you see and know today is but a fraction of His creative capacity. Therefore, do not limit His power to what your minds can grasp, and do not doubt the reality of resurrection simply because you cannot imagine its details.

A Da‘wah Reflection for the Reader:

This verse invites you to reflect deeply on the greatness of your Creator. The same Allah who shaped you in the womb, gave you your unique features, and sustains you every moment—this very Allah assures you that He can recreate you in ways beyond your comprehension. So why fear death or doubt the Hereafter? The One who began your existence can certainly repeat it, and even surpass it with something far more magnificent.

Let this certainty fill your heart with hope and tranquility. Your life does not end at the grave; it transitions into a new creation that your mind cannot yet fathom. Prepare for that moment by drawing closer to Allah, trusting in His promise, and living a life of righteousness. For the One who holds the power to transform your very essence is the same One who has promised you Paradise—if only you believe and act accordingly.
