Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • تَطْمَئِنُّ (tatma'innu): To find tranquility, peace, and complete reassurance; the heart settles and becomes calm without agitation or doubt.
  • بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ (bi-dhikrillah): By the remembrance of Allah — which includes glorifying Him, praising Him, reciting His Book, and reflecting on His names and attributes.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse describes the blessed state of the believers whom Allah guides to the straight path. They are those who have true faith (īmān) in their hearts, and their hearts find complete rest and tranquility through the remembrance of Allah. When they remember Him — whether through prayer, recitation of the Qur'an, glorification, or supplication — their hearts settle and become serene, free from anxiety, fear, and confusion. The verse then delivers a powerful, universal truth: *"Surely, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest."* This is an emphatic declaration — no matter how difficult life becomes, no matter how heavy the burdens, the heart that connects with its Creator through remembrance will always find a deep, unshakable peace. This tranquility is not a fleeting emotion but a profound state of certainty (yaqīn) that settles firmly in the soul, because the believer knows that Allah is in control of all affairs, and His promise is true.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, have you ever felt that restlessness in your heart — that emptiness that no amount of wealth, entertainment, or worldly success can fill? This verse reveals the divine prescription for that inner void: the remembrance of Allah. The One who created your heart knows exactly what calms it. When you turn to Him in prayer, when you read His words, when you call upon Him in your moments of need, a supernatural peace descends upon you — a peace that no worldly pleasure can match. This is an open invitation to every soul: try it, and you will taste a sweetness of faith that transforms your entire life. The doors of Allah's mercy are always open, and His remembrance is the key to true happiness in this life and the next. So take that step today — remember Him, and let your heart find the rest it has been searching for.

📜 Verse 26-30 — Ar-Ra'd

Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. And they rejoice in the worldly life, while the worldly life is not, compared to the Hereafter, except [brief] enjoyment.
And those who disbelieved say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, Allah leaves astray whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him] -
Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured."
Those who have believed and done righteous deeds - a good state is theirs and a good return.
Thus have We sent you to a community before which [other] communities have passed on so you might recite to them that which We revealed to you, while they disbelieve in the Most Merciful. Say, "He is my Lord; there is no deity except Him. Upon Him I rely, and to Him is my return."
