Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Shafi'een (شَافِعِينَ): Intercessors; those who plead on behalf of others to secure mercy, forgiveness, or relief from punishment.
Explanation of the Verse:
On the Day of Judgment, when the reality of every soul’s deeds becomes manifest, the believers will witness the honor granted to the righteous: angels, prophets, and sincere believers will intercede for one another by Allah’s permission, seeking mercy for those who upheld faith and righteousness. In stark contrast, the disbelievers—those who rejected the truth in this world and persisted in associating partners with Allah—will find themselves utterly bereft. They will cry out in regret and despair: "What is the matter with us that we have no intercessors?" This is not a question of ignorance but a lament of utter loss. They will realize that no one will plead for them, no friend will step forward, and no beloved will show them compassion. The intercession they once mocked or denied will be entirely withheld from them, for they severed their connection with the One who grants intercession and with those who deserve it.
This verse captures a moment of profound hopelessness, where the disbelievers fully comprehend that their fate is sealed. They have no advocates to rescue them from the torment, no one to soften the punishment, and no soul to show them even a flicker of kindness. It is a painful awakening to the consequences of a life spent in arrogance and denial.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, this verse is a powerful reminder that the Hereafter is not a distant tale but a certain reality. The intercession that the disbelievers will desperately seek is a mercy reserved for those who, in this life, submitted to Allah, followed His messengers, and purified their hearts with faith and good deeds. Do not wait until that Day to realize your need for intercession. Today, you have the opportunity to build a relationship with your Lord, to seek His forgiveness, and to walk the path of His beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The doors of repentance are open, and the mercy of Allah is vast. Turn to Him now, and you will find that on the Day when intercession matters most, you will not be among those who cry out in vain. Embrace the light of Islam, and let your heart find peace in the promise of Allah—that those who believe and do righteous deeds shall have nothing to fear, nor shall they grieve.
