Surah An-Naml — Verse 13

Tafsir (Explanation):

When Musa, peace be upon him, was sent to Pharaoh and his people, Allah supported him with profound miracles—the staff turning into a serpent, the glowing hand, and other signs. These were not ambiguous or hidden; they were مُبْصِرَةً—radiant, clear, and illuminating, guiding every fair-minded observer to the undeniable truth of Allah’s power and Musa’s prophethood.

Yet, despite this blinding clarity, the disbelievers did not reflect or submit. Instead, they stubbornly and arrogantly declared: "This is nothing but clear magic!" They called it "clear" not because it was truly magic, but because they wanted to convince themselves and others that it was obvious trickery—an excuse to reject the truth while knowing it deep down.

Their accusation was a defensive reaction, born of pride and fear of losing their status and power. They saw the light but chose to shut their eyes, labeling the divine miracle as human sorcery to justify their defiance.

A Call to Reflection:

How often do we, too, receive clear signs from Allah—in the beauty of creation, in the answers to our prayers, in the guidance of the Qur'an—yet dismiss them or explain them away? The Qur'an repeatedly invites us to open our hearts, for the signs of Allah are not hidden; they are مُبْصِرَةً, shining for those who seek the truth. Let us not be like those who saw the light and called it darkness. Instead, let every sign—big or small—draw us closer to our Creator, for He never leaves us without guidance; He only waits for us to look with sincere eyes and humble hearts.
