Surah As-Saffat — Verse 23

Word Meanings:

• Min doonillah (مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ): Those worshipped besides Allah, such as idols, false deities, and anything taken as objects of worship other than Him.
• Fahdoohum (فَاهْدُوهُمْ): Guide them, show them the way, and drive them towards it.
• Siratil jaheem (صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ): The path leading to the blazing Fire of Hell.

Explanation of the Verse:

On the Day of Judgment, when the disbelievers and their false gods are gathered together, the angels are commanded to collect them all—the wrongdoers who associated partners with Allah, their like-minded companions in disbelief, and the very idols and deities they used to worship instead of Allah. Then, the angels are told: "Guide them to the path of Hellfire"—meaning, show them the way to the blazing Fire and drive them towards it, for that is their final destination and just recompense for their arrogance and rejection of the truth.

This verse paints a vivid picture of the utter humiliation and despair that awaits those who worshipped false gods. The very deities they once revered and sought intercession from are now gathered alongside them, powerless to help or save them. Instead of leading them to salvation, these false gods become witnesses against them, and the disbelievers are marched forcefully towards the eternal punishment.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this profound scene. Those who rejected Allah's message and devoted their lives to false worship will be led by the angels themselves to the Fire—not as honored guests, but as prisoners of their own choices. Yet, Allah, in His infinite mercy, has sent us this warning in the Qur'an so that we may never face such a fate. He has opened the doors of repentance and guidance for every soul that turns to Him sincerely.

Today, you have the opportunity to choose your path. Will you be among those who are guided to Paradise, or among those who are guided to the Fire? The choice is yours, and the time is now. Embrace the pure worship of Allah alone, free yourself from all false dependencies, and taste the sweetness of faith that leads to eternal bliss. The Qur'an is your guide, the Prophet ﷺ is your example, and Allah's mercy is boundless—so hasten to Him before the Day arrives when no soul can intercede for another.
