Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Qismah (قِسْمَةٌ): A division or apportionment.
- Dīzā (ضِيزَىٰ): Unjust, unfair, or skewed; a division that deviates from justice and equity.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse is a direct and powerful rebuke of the polytheists’ flawed reasoning. In the preceding verses, Allah condemns their practice of assigning female offspring to Him—glorified and exalted is He above what they ascribe—while they themselves preferred sons and despised daughters. Here, Allah declares: "That, then, is an unjust division."
In other words, the very logic they employed—giving Allah what they deemed inferior and keeping the best for themselves—is a glaring injustice. It is a division that contradicts sound reason, natural disposition (fitrah), and any sense of fairness. How could they attribute to their Creator, the Lord of all worlds, that which they themselves found distasteful and shameful?
This verse exposes the absurdity of their beliefs, showing that their claims were not based on truth or revelation but on whims and corrupted desires. It serves as a timeless lesson: any belief or practice that assigns imperfection to Allah or contradicts His majesty is inherently unjust and false.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, ponder this profound truth: Allah, the Most Merciful, the All-Wise, is far above any imperfection. He is the Creator of all that exists, the One who fashioned you in the best of forms and blessed you with countless favors. How could anyone, in their right mind, attribute to Him what they themselves reject?
This verse invites you to purify your understanding of Allah—to know Him as He has described Himself in His Book and through His Messenger (peace be upon him). It calls you to abandon blind following of false traditions and to embrace the pure, untainted message of Islam, which upholds justice, wisdom, and absolute reverence for the Almighty.
Let this be a moment of awakening: return to your natural disposition, which recognizes the greatness of Allah and submits to Him alone. For in that submission lies true peace, justice, and eternal success. And know that Allah, in His infinite mercy, has sent the Qur’an as a guide—a light that dispels the darkness of ignorance and leads you to the straight path. Embrace it, and you will find a life of purpose and a hereafter of everlasting bliss.
