Ayahsabul insaanu al lan najm`a `izaamah
📖 English Meaning
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?
📜

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Ayahsabu – Does he think/suppose
  • Al-insan – The human being (here referring to the disbeliever who denies the Resurrection)
  • An lan najma'a – That We will never gather/assemble
  • 'Izamahu – His bones (after they have scattered and decomposed in the earth)

Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah, the Exalted, opens this chapter with a powerful oath, swearing by the Day of Resurrection and by the self-reproaching soul—the believing soul that blames itself for falling short in obedience and for committing wrongdoings—that humanity will indeed be raised up again.

Then comes the striking question: Does this human being—this denier of the Hereafter—truly imagine that We are incapable of gathering his bones back together after they have scattered into dust and mingled with the earth?

What a foolish assumption! Does he think that the One who created him from nothing in the first place cannot recreate him with ease? Does he suppose that the bones that have crumbled away, been eaten by the earth, and dispersed in every direction are beyond the reach of their Creator?

Absolutely not! We are not only able to gather those bones, but We are capable of something even more astonishing—We can reconstruct his very fingertips, restoring them to their perfect, intricate form, with all their unique lines and patterns, exactly as they were before death. This is a reminder of Allah's infinite power, a power that knows no limits and faces no obstacles.

O beloved reader! Let this verse awaken your heart. The One who created you from a drop of fluid, who fashioned you in the womb, who gave you your unique fingerprints—can He not bring you back to life after death? Indeed, He can, and He will. The Resurrection is a certainty, and every soul shall stand before its Lord to be held accountable for its deeds.

So do not live as if this life is the end. Prepare for the Day when bones shall be revived, bodies shall be restored, and every secret shall be brought to light. That Day is coming—there is no doubt about it—and the wise one is he who takes provision for the journey ahead.
