Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • وَذَكِّرْ (And remind): Continue to admonish, advise, and remind people of the truth through the Qur'an and wise counsel.
  • الذِّكْرَى (The reminder): The act of reminding, admonition, and exhortation that awakens hearts and directs them toward Allah.
  • تَنفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (Benefits the believers): Brings benefit, guidance, and spiritual growth to those who possess sincere faith.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Messenger, even if some turn away from your call and reject your message, do not let that stop you from continuing your mission. Keep reminding and admonishing them, for the reminder and the admonition are never wasted. Indeed, the reminder benefits the believers — those whose hearts are alive with faith and who sincerely seek the truth. It strengthens their conviction, deepens their understanding, and draws them closer to their Lord. As for those who persist in disbelief, the reminder serves as an established proof against them, leaving them with no excuse before Allah.

The verse carries a profound lesson: the duty of the caller to Allah is to convey and remind, while the outcome rests with Allah alone. The believer's heart is like fertile soil — whenever the rain of reminder falls upon it, it produces fruits of obedience, humility, and increased faith. Therefore, never underestimate the power of a single word of truth, for it may be the very means by which Allah guides a heart and transforms a life.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse is a source of immense comfort and motivation for every Muslim who strives to share the message of Islam. It teaches us that our role is simply to remind — with wisdom, kindness, and sincerity — and that the reminder is never in vain. Even if we do not see immediate results, the seeds we plant may blossom at a time known only to Allah. So, dear believer, do not grow weary of reminding others of Allah's mercy, His commands, and His promises. Your words carry light, and that light will never be extinguished. Trust in Allah, remain steadfast, and know that your effort is cherished and rewarded by the One who hears every word and sees every intention.
