- أَئِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ – "Shall we indeed be raised again?" – i.e., brought back to life and resurrected for judgment.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse unveils the arrogant and defiant attitude of the disbelievers who preceded the people of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They would mockingly and incredulously ask: "When we have died and turned into dust and decayed bones, will we truly be resurrected?" Their question was not a sincere inquiry seeking truth, but rather an expression of denial, ridicule, and sheer astonishment at the idea of life after death. They deemed it impossible that the Creator who originated them from nothing could bring them back after their bodies had completely decomposed and mingled with the earth.
Their words reflect a deep-seated arrogance and a refusal to submit to the reality of the Hereafter. They treated the resurrection as a far-fetched fantasy, failing to recognize that the One who created the heavens and the earth, and who brought them into existence from a mere drop of fluid, is absolutely capable of recreating them. The verse serves as a powerful reminder that human reasoning, when detached from faith and divine revelation, leads to confusion and denial of the most evident truths.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect deeply upon this scene. These people were not ignorant of their own creation; they witnessed the cycle of life and death around them, yet they stubbornly refused to accept that the Almighty Allah—who originated them from nothing—could resurrect them after death. How could they deny the One who created them the first time, when recreating them is even easier for Him?
This verse invites you to break free from the chains of arrogance and false assumptions. Let your heart open to the truth that this worldly life is but a fleeting stage, and that the real, everlasting life awaits you after death. The resurrection is not a distant impossibility; it is a certain reality that will undoubtedly come to pass. So, prepare for that Day with sincere faith, righteous deeds, and a heart that submits to its Lord. Do not be among those who mock the truth, for they will soon witness with their own eyes what they once denied—and on that Day, no excuse will avail them. Embrace the light of faith now, before the curtain is lifted and the truth becomes undeniable.
