Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • آمَنَّا (Aamanna): We have believed, with sincere faith and full conviction.
  • رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (Rabbil-'Alameen): The Lord and Sustainer of all the worlds—of mankind, jinn, angels, and all of creation.

Explanation of the Verse:

When the magicians of Pharaoh witnessed the miracle of Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him)—his staff turning into a great serpent that swallowed all their illusions and tricks—they were overwhelmed by the undeniable truth. They knew their own craft well; they understood that what Musa had brought was no mere sorcery, but a divine sign that could only come from the Almighty Creator. In that moment of profound realization, their hearts opened, and they fell down in prostration, declaring: "We have believed in the Lord of all the worlds."

This declaration was not a casual statement—it was a complete transformation of their souls. They moved from being servants of Pharaoh, who claimed divinity, to becoming humble servants of the true Lord of everything that exists. Their faith was immediate, sincere, and unshaken, even though they knew that Pharaoh would punish them severely for this act of defiance. They accepted the truth with courage, placing their trust in Allah above any earthly power.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This verse teaches us a beautiful and powerful lesson: the truth of Allah's signs penetrates the hearts of those who are sincere, no matter their past. These magicians had spent their lives in falsehood, yet when the truth became clear, they did not hesitate. They did not let pride, status, or fear of Pharaoh's revenge hold them back. They chose Allah over everything.

Dear reader, reflect on your own heart: when you see the signs of Allah in the universe, in the Qur'an, and in your own life, do you respond with the same sincerity? The door of repentance and faith is always open. No matter what you have done before, Allah accepts those who turn to Him with a pure heart. Let this verse inspire you to strengthen your faith, to stand firm for the truth, and to love Allah—the Lord of all the worlds—above all else. For He is the One who created you, sustains you, and is Most Merciful to those who believe.
