Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(We will surely relate/recount): A solemn oath emphasizing the certainty of the event.
  • بِعِلْمٍ (with knowledge): Meaning with full, perfect knowledge of every detail.
  • غَائِبِينَ (absent/unaware): Not being absent or unaware of anything.

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this profound verse, Allah Almighty assures us with a solemn oath that on the Day of Judgment, He will recount to all of humanity—every single soul—the entirety of their deeds, both great and small, public and private. This recounting will not be based on partial information or incomplete records, but upon His perfect, all-encompassing knowledge. Nothing will be omitted, nothing will be forgotten, and nothing will be misrepresented.

Allah was never absent from His creation at any moment, in any place, or under any circumstance. He witnessed every breath, every glance, every thought that crossed the mind, and every action taken in the darkness of night or the light of day. He knows what was done openly and what was done in secret, what was spoken and what was kept hidden in the depths of the heart.

This verse carries a dual message of warning and comfort. For those who did good, it is a promise that their efforts will never be lost or undervalued—every act of kindness, every moment of patience, every tear shed in sincere devotion will be brought forth and rewarded in full. For those who did evil, it is a reminder that no deed escapes Allah's sight, and that justice will inevitably be served.

A Da'wah Reflection:

How beautiful is this verse for the believer! It tells us that our Lord is always with us, always watching, always aware. When you feel alone in your struggles, remember that Allah sees your effort. When you do good in secret, know that it is recorded with the One who never forgets. When you fear that your sins are too many, remember that His mercy is greater—but also remember that He knows all, so let this knowledge drive you to sincere repentance and righteous action.

This verse invites us to live with consciousness of Allah (taqwa) in every moment. It transforms our daily lives into an act of worship when we realize that we are always in His presence. Let this awareness fill your heart with hope, for the One who knows all your struggles will surely reward your patience. And let it also fill you with sincerity, for the One who sees all your deeds deserves your purest devotion.

📜 Verse 5-9 — Al-A'raf

And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!"
Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers.
Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent.
And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful.
And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses.
