Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-Fadl (الْفَضْلُ): The abundant bounty, grace, and favor.
  • Kafā (كَفَى): Sufficient, enough.
  • ʿAlīmā (عَلِيمًا): All-Knowing, fully aware of all things.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse refers back to the immense rewards and honors that Allah has promised to those who obey Him and His Messenger—those who are gathered with the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous, as mentioned in the preceding verses. Allah declares that this great recompense is not something earned by human effort alone; rather, it is pure grace and bounty from Allah Himself. He bestows it upon whom He wills out of His infinite mercy and generosity.

Then Allah adds: "And sufficient is Allah as All-Knowing." This means that Allah alone possesses complete and perfect knowledge of all His creation—their intentions, their deeds, their struggles, and their sincerity. He knows precisely who deserves this reward and who has truly strived in His path. No one can deceive Him, and no good deed, however small, is ever lost in His sight. He is fully aware of every soul's condition and will recompense each person according to what they have done.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear believer, ponder the greatness of this divine promise! The reward that Allah has prepared for the obedient is not a wage you can fully earn—it is a gift from the Most Merciful, overflowing with His grace. When you strive in worship, in patience, in charity, and in righteousness, know that Allah sees it all and knows it all. His knowledge is perfect, and His justice is absolute. So never despair, never feel that your efforts are unnoticed, and never underestimate the value of even a single sincere act. For the One who knows all things has promised you a reward beyond your imagination. Let this verse fill your heart with hope and your soul with determination to draw closer to Him. And what greater comfort is there than knowing that the All-Knowing, the All-Seeing, is aware of every step you take in His path? Rejoice in His grace, and strive to be among those who earn His favor through sincere faith and righteous deeds.

And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions.

And indeed, there is among you he who lingers behind; and if disaster strikes you, he says, "Allah has favored me in that I was not present with them."
